SPONSOR A CHILD TO SCHOOL IN IGBUSI VILLAGE
Resurgence International school is an institution established with the aim of supporting the needed in the Igbusi Community village and environ in Ogun State. The vision started in 2019 to reduce the over population of pupils in the only government school in Igbusi community. A scholarship exam was conducted to bring in ready to learn kids and we started with 20kids, we gave them uniform, Exercise books and Text books and one day soft meal. When we ran out of resources, I contacted friends to support as we also need to create more classes and
In the year 2019, I received an inspiration, which activated my long term vision to run an educational institution (school). But before then, in the year 2011, I was a magazine publisher and also ran Public Speaking Programs for students of Private Secondary School in Lagos. The name of the publication is Resurgence Magazine.
The purpose of the magazine is to help students recover some of the difficult topics they have been taught in class. So I usually collect and publish likely examination questions and solutions. This means any student that is able to buy the publication and study it well will most like pass their exam because curriculum are the same in Lagos schools. Resurgence means recovery especially good memories that have been lost.
Back to the year 2019, when I returned to Nigeria from United kingdom, I received the inspiration to start a low cost private school with my 3bedroom flat apartment after seeing the only one Government primary school in our community, very crowded and some helpless parents are begging the government teachers to accept token from them in other for their children to join the overcrowded school, even if they have to get chairs and table by themselves, because they could not afford the expensive fee of private schools around the community. This was very unacceptable in a community that has political leaders. It's what it is in our country Nigeria, no leader could be held responsible for the situation.
So I decided to take it up with a free coaching lesson during the summer holiday with help of my wife who is already a degree holder in Education before then, and we also organized a scholarship examination just to locate the ready to learn children.
I then reached out to my friends in United kingdom to support the kids with school fees, so that I can be able to pay the employed teachers, since I have used all my savings to purchase teaching materials UpTo about 500k. And to my surprise, few sponsors came up to support and we commenced the new session with 30pupils who paid very low and affordable cost compared to what other private schools around the community are demanding.
We couldn't accommodate lots of them because sponsorship is still low. However as the school develops and we get more sponsors, we were able to bring in more brilliant pupils from the public school. Today RESURGENCE SCHOOLS is 3years old and we have our secondary school running up to JSS 3. We have written Common entrance exams and participated in lots of competitions ranging from academics, sports, debates, quiz, music and lots more with outstanding performances. We are preparing for our first Junior Secondary School WAEC exam by third term in the year 2023.
We have a vision to build, equip and prepare the pupils for a destined future. Our school motto says: Preparing for future rest.
